What seasonal care do trees need in Alberta?

Late winter is the time for most pruning, while trees are dormant. Spring is for checking snow and wind damage. Summer is for watching for drought stress, pests and disease, and fall is for deadwood checks and deep watering before freeze-up. Evergreens especially benefit from a good soak before winter sets in.

How can I tell if my tree is unhealthy?

Warning signs include dead or bare branches in the crown, leaves that discolour or drop early, cracks or cavities in the trunk, mushrooms or fungus at the base, peeling bark and a new lean. Some problems look worse than they are, and some trees look fine until they fail, which is why an arborist helps.

Do you offer a spring discount?

Yes. Spring work gets a seasonal 15% discount, and there is also a discount for customers local to Cochrane. Spring is a good time to book, because winter snow and wind damage shows up then and trees are ready to put on new growth after pruning. Ask about both discounts when you call.
